MIA...and with good reason

I have been MIA the last couple of weeks and with good reason...I was in China. While there I had the opportunity to visit a very cool, historic water village known as Wuzhen. It is not far from Hangzhou and Shanghai. Within the village are four luxury hotels that occupy what used to be homes. They are so well hidden that you do not realize you are entering a hotel until you walk through a modest doorway into a grand lobby. It is really unbelievable. Before I even began traveling to China, this is how I pictured Chinese villages to look. They do not all look like this, believe me. Wuzhen is truly special.

Please forgive the quality of the pictures that I am sharing. They were taken with my iPhone. The above image is of the gate leading out of the hotel I stayed.

This former home is charming.

One of the waterways in Wuzhen where you are taxied by boat around the village.

A pedestrian street lined with shops and restaurants. Love those caned light fixtures.

I love these hanging pendants that were in the hotel I stayed.

I just arrived back in the States last night, and believe or not, I am now departing for a long overdue vacation in New Hampshire. I cannot wait to get there. I may try to post while I am away, but I am not making any promises. I may be too busy doing a little R&R.

Feeling for the Flavor...Paper...

Flavor Paper started out as a wallpaper company based in Oregon back in the 1970's run by a hippie named Ted. It found new life in 2003 when Jon Sherman caught wind that this psychedelic wallpaper company was selling all of its equipment. So he hopped on a plane and viola: new life. The company somehow found home in New Orleans. Now its sleek new headquarters has moved to Brooklyn, NY while keeping a smaller studio in NOLA.

You have got to check out Flavor Paper's paper. Even the traditional at heart will find something to Penelope, one of the three dogs that hang out at the HQ or Sheba, the super cool wallpaper design seen below.

Peruse their website and you too will getting the feeling for the Flavor...

Attention Lilly Lovers!

To all you Lilly lovers out there! Come on, it's okay, you can say it (if): you love Lilly Pulitzer. It took me a long time to feel comfortable saying it, but now that it is out, I feel so much better. Anyway...back to important one week starts the Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2010 Warehouse Sale at the Valley Forge Convention Center.

Yes, I am schlepping down there, so hope to see you there...

Destination: Pantone Hotel

I work with Pantone colors on a daily basis, and I am always wondering why the TPX book has not been updated recently with new colors. For all you textile designers out there, I am sure you know what I am talking about. Well, I have news. I discovered today what they have been up to...they have been busy opening Pantone Hotel. Seriously.

The hotel is located in Brussels (very cool) and is made up of seven floors, each with their own distinctive color palette (also very cool). Check out the website to read more about it:
