The One That Got Away...

I finally decided what I wanted for Christmas this year from A., this adorable little "LOVE" necklace from Willow Boutique which I first spotted on Urban Grace Interiors over a year ago. I never forgot about that little bauble, so I reached out find out some info. to pass along to A. Sadly, the window of opportunity for him to order it in time for Christmas is gone. Poof! The artist is swamped with orders which is great for the artist, but sad for me. Upside? A great idea for Valentine's Day (hint hint A.).

Really, I do not need anything for Christmas this year. I am pretty lucky. I have a roof over my head, I have a job, two adorable pets, a wonderful husband, good, no, GREAT friends and a loving family. I listen to NPR way too much and know that I have it pretty damn good compared to many. So, I guess I do feel a little silly feeling bummed about a necklace that I will not be able to get for Christmas.

So...on that note...if I am not able to get the "LOVE" necklace for Christmas, I will try to do even better and spread some love this Christmas season with friends and family, and let them know how lucky I am to have them in my life.

White Lines...

Images: Pink-to-Green, Red Papaya, Houzz, House Beautiful

Perhaps it has something to do with winter fast approaching, the holiday season in full swing, or because I am dreaming of a beach vacation, but I have been really into wood paneling these days.

No...not that ugly stuff that is usually found in basements from 1970-something, but crisp white wood panels running horizontally along the walls. It creates such a fresh, relaxed, casual look and looks great in a kitchen, bathroom, family room, or well, anywhere.

Bedroom Inspiration

(Clockwise from Upper Left)

Dwell Studio has done it again. No surprise there. I recently received the new Dwell Studio Global Modern Luxe book for Robert Allen at work and let me tell you....AMAZING. I most into Masala in Toffee which is a simple and elegant geometric jacquard that is really versatile. A. and I have a loveseat in our bedroom which has been in need of reupholstering for some time and this may very well be the fabric. Of course I cannot not just stop there. I have to think about the bedding which is well overdue for a change up. I am thinking of incorporating my good old standby of Restoration Hardware Hotel Duvet and Shams, fold in Eileen Fisher Crushed Silk Quilt and Shams in Truffle Grey and Eileen Fisher Open Stitch Percale Sheeting Pale Orchid. For a little decorative pattern I would have a long bolster made in Dwell Studio's Aravali in Blush. I think that West Elm's Wood Tiled 3-Drawer Dresser flanking either side of the bed would pull it all together perhaps top them with antique mercury glass lamps such as the ones shown above would give it a little bit of glamour.

Where Did The Time Go!?!

Image: Amazon

Have you ever had those weeks where you wake up one morning and think, "Where the #%*@ did the time go!?!"
Well...that has been my last two weeks! Work has been crazy busy, I have been working toward a project outside of work all while trying to tackle some sort of bug that leaves me totally and utterly exhausted by 4:00 in the afternoon. Not sure what that is all about. I have been riddled with guilt over my lack of posts especially since I was starting to get back on track with posting on a regular basis. Well...I guess I just have to embrace it and move on. Today is a new day.

Fortuny Fever

The buzz has been all over the web regarding the launch of L’Objet's to die for Fortuny inspired tableware. I had the pleasure of seeing the products first hand while at Bergdorf Goodman last week (and I could kick myself for not taking any pictures) and let me tell you....G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S. I have been a huge fan of Fortuny ever since I was in college for interior design way back when. The fabrics are timeless, elegant, luxurious, sumptuous....I could go on.

Although the focus has been on Bergdorf's I noticed that others are being inspired by Fortuny, including the people over at West Elm. Check out their new Stella Quilt - love the soft colors and the delicate pleating. I could handle being immersed in Fortuny or Fortuny-inspired bedding....

Get The Look

I have been really into the slipcover look these days. Not the slipcovers that you can buy to fit any sofa - you know the kind where you tie it and it does not look any better than before you bought the slipcover? I am loving the boxy look of the slipcovers shown in the top image from Veranda, especially the stitching around the edges. It is so fresh, clean, relaxed look and chic. Both Crate and Barrel and Viva Terra have similar looks that I am sure are a fraction of the price of the chairs shown in Veranda (unfortunately I did not jot down who they are by).

Totally Terrific Tableware

I cannot resist tableware...I absolutely love it. It all started way back while in college I worked for a high-end tableware and home accessories store. After that, I was hooked. Unfortunately I was told I cannot bring anymore into our house due to lack of storage. However, these pieces are impossible to resist and I may just have to find
a way to sneak them in...

Things on my mind...

Image: J. Crew

I feel like I am back in high school when I would pour over the J.Crew catalog and create list upon list of what I wanted. I find myself doing it again! I cannot get over how fabulous their current collection is. These are only a few of the things that I would love to get. Can we please talk about those peacock-colored pants? To die for...

Image: Elle Decor

The first time I saw this handset was on Gwyneth Paltrow's list of "Twelve Things She Can't Live Without" in Elle Decor, and I was a little baffled then. I totally get the reason for using a hands-free piece for one's cell phone, but this seems so bulky and cumbersome. No thanks. I will look for something a little smaller and that will fit in anything from a tote to a clutch, or just continue to use the headphones that came with my iPhone. I really did not think that anyone would buy into this, YET as I was eating lunch at BG Restaurant yesterday I was surprised to see a woman actually using one. Still baffled...

Heading on up...

Heading into New York today for a meeting, a little inspiration and meeting a dear friend for lunch at none other than BG at Bergdorf Goodman designed by Kelly Wearstler. While there I will be sure to check out her clothing line in person. Looking forward to my day. Have a great Monday...

Things on my mind...

It is supposed to be pretty nice this coming Sunday and I think that is a perfect day for a drive, a picnic and maybe a little pumpkin picking (I am finally coming to terms with summer being over). Here are just a few things that would round it out: J.Crew Excursion Jacket, Frye Boots (I need a new pair!), a Pendleton throw (love!), a fabulous picnic basket to store yummy goodies, a vintage Jeep Wagoneer (totally timeless), and I would top it off with a wool cap

The Look For Less

The leather New Safari Camp Chairs by Ralph Lauren that were used in the House and Home Showhome (Canada) are totally amazing, but the price - $4485 - not really in this girl's budget. However, here are a couple options that give the look for less: Lewis Drake and Associates' Martin Safari Camp Chair at for $695 or Urban Outfitters' Leather Butterfly Chair at only $199.

Color Combo Love...

I am not usually one to gravitate toward purple - although those who know me may beg to differ with my purple purse and pale lavender scarf that I walk around with all the time - BUT combine it with dark or navy blue and what do you get? Gorgeous! I am loving those dark blue walls in the dining room and how the millwork and the walls are all the same color...

Shade To Black

I am having a bit of a lighting crisis at home these days, especially in my studio. I have one task lamp on my desk, but it does not give off enough light for me to work on my design work at night. So I have lamps on the brain these days. A. is out of town right now and when he gets back we are going to go lamp shopping some - he likes to give his opinion (and manage the budget :) ) - but I have been doing some research on my own. In my "research" lamps with black shades have been really catching my eye. Black shades seem to add a bit of drama, elegance, and sophistication. I used to be a white or ivory shade kind of girl, but I think I am starting to sing a different tune...

Remembering a Visionary

The world lost a great man yesterday who changed how we work on computers, listen to music, talk on the phone and watch movies. As I am sure you have already heard since the news spread quickly last night, Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple passed away yesterday. His passion, inspiration and genius will be missed.

"Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." - Steve Jobs
(excerpt from Steve Jobs' commencement speech at Stanford University, 2005)

Seeing Red

Received the newest West Elm catalog yesterday and they have some pretty cool things going on in their assortment. One of which is the 'Dipped Side Table." It comes in lacquer white and red; the latter made me start thinking all those other fabulous red pieces that are out there. Sadly Ikea stopped making the 'Kulla' lamp in red, but thanks to the internet there are tons of pictures of it out there. I kick myself for having not gotten it when it was still available...

If you are ever looking for someone to sublet...

Stumbled upon this image and fell in love with the serene color palette. I could move in here. Only problem is Erin Fetherston will need to move out...maybe she'll need someone to sublet at some point. I would keep pretty much keep everything intact and many add a really soft throw blanket in the same color as her dress and lose the sheep. Aside from that, the work is done!

Color Love!

As I was pulling together images for another post, I stumbled upon this outfit on Rachel Roy....LOVE! Since I now have to dash out the door I thought I would put this up as a little burst of color fabulousness on a dreary day here where I live. Rain today. Rain tomorrow. Rain on Friday, Rain on Saturday. Bleh...

Book It!

As I was perusing through the September issue of Coastal Living I stumbled upon the spread on the redesign of The Dunmore on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. Love it!!! Including the fact that fabrics from Quadrille are scattered throughout. Who could not like that? And the salmon and turquoise colors? This hotel is calling me...seriously

...and if I were to go, I would wear something like this:

Sweet Home Alabama Chanin

I know, I know...the title is a little cheesy, but it was the best I could think of on the fly...gotta head out the door. Now that I have addressed that, on to better things...

I have been totally obsessed with Alabama Chanin lately! I love the tonal simplicity of color combined with the elaborate and detailed handiwork that goes into the pieces. I would love to add a piece to my wardrobe. I better start saving...

Feeling Blue

Just a few lovely images of textiles using indigo dye, an ancient organic dye that results in beautifully deep blue colors.

The piece at the top will be in the upcoming exhibition, Fiber Futures: Japan's Textile Pioneers, at Japan Society New York which opens next Friday, September 16.

LoveLove LemLem

Images: LemLem

I am totally loving the fall looks from LemLem - especially the pops of color added in against shades of white, black and jewel tones. Not only do I adore the clothes and accessories, but I have complete appreciation for the hand-quality of these pieces and love how the clothing line came about. Supermodel, Liya Kebede, started LemLem after learning that weavers in her home country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs due to lack of demand, she created the company and it is thriving. Totally inspiring...and can we look at some of the kids clothes below? So cute!

Google Loves Lucy

Image: Google

I love when Google changes their header to honor an event, a person, etc., and today tops them all! Go the main page and you will find this image, honoring Lucille Ball's 100th Birthday. Wait a few seconds and the TV will actually begin to play an episode of I Love Lucy. So clever they are over at Google.

Suddenly Salmon

It all started a couple of weeks ago at work when I was gathering some fabrics for a client when I stumbled upon a memo from Stout in Salmon. I immediately felt drawn to this color and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since!

Minus the stain on the front, which may just be a spot on the photo, how amazing is this robe!?! I love the details along the collar, cuffs and the length. So gorgeous...
